Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Care

At Bawrunga Medical Services, we understand the unique health care needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our team includes doctors, nurses, health workers and other support staff who are all committed to providing high-quality care.

We provide a range of services, including general Medical care, women’s health, men’s health, sexual health, mental health and substance abuse services. We also have a strong focus on preventative health, and offer a wide range of programs and services aimed at promoting general health and well-being.

Eligibility criteria for Aboriginal Care Coordination

Client is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Descent

Has one of the five following chronic diseases:

  • Diabetes

  • Cancer

  • Cardiovascular disease

  • Chronic respiratory disease

  • Chronic renal disease

  • Mental health

The Aboriginal Health Team can provide personalized care to Aboriginal patients to manage and follow their care plan, understand their medicines, conduct home visits and assist with health assessments.

What is a chronic disease?

A chronic disease is a health condition that is persistent or otherwise long-lasting in its effect. The term chronic is usually applied when the course of the disease last more than three months.
